Khikhadziri - a village in Georgia, in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Khulo Municipality, it is located on both banks of the river Skhalta. Which is risen 1240 meters above sea level. It is 41 kilometres away from Khulo and 116 kilometres from Batumi. This ancient Georgian village is built below Khikhani Fortress. However, it is Khikhani Castle that carries the fascinating history and heritage of mountainous Adjara. Khikhani Castle was built in the twelfth century by Queen Tamar, and it was used to defend itself from the enemy. The area of the prison is several hectares, of which only a small part is cultivated, and most of it is steep. Ruins of many buildings have been found in Khirkhati, some have been partially preserved, and some are levelled to the ground. Khikhani Castle is a historical landmark for us, with a significant history, culture and tradition. Khikhani Castle and Village Khikhadziri is a fantastic blend of our past, present and future.
