America's Southwest is home to some of the world's most diverse terrain. Utah is no exception. Back in 2013 some friend's and I took a road trip during our final Spring break of college, where we drove from the Grand Canyon to Bryce Canyon National Park to Zion National Park. The destinations were half of the trip, but much of our time was on the road, careening through the deserts of Northern Arizona, a 200-mile detour, and the best coconut cream pie I've ever had at the Thunderbird Restaurant at a random highway junction in Utah.Throughout the week we explored desert, mountains, snow, canyons, and forests. More than that, our conversations, jokes, spontaneous photo ops, and deepened friendships made the trip one of the best weeks of my life. It's amazing where you can get to with time and a car. Most people just don't make the space to do so. I am always amazed that some of my coworkers never use vacation time. We often think of vacations as all-inclusive stays on an island resort. But there is so much to offer just a few hours away from our city centres. And it's fairly cheap. Perhaps we are afraid to jump into the unknown and get in a car and drive.
